Calabria
Calabria is the new property hotspot located at
the toe of Italy, and with low entry prices, and
low cost flights by Ryan Air, we highly recommend
this as an area to consider for those on a lower
budget.
In the south western corner, Calabria has long
been popular with Italian tourists, but has only
recently come to the attention of overseas tourism
and developers. Remote and rugged, Calabria is
the toe of the Italian boot. Caressed by the Ionian
and the Tyrrhenian Seas, this is unspoiled Italy
at its best and over the years it has fiercely
maintained its traditional way of life. Wandering
through its towns and villages feels like stepping
back in time.
Calabria is also rich in natural beauty boasting
breathtaking landscapes. The jagged Sila and Aspromonte
mountains are deeply cut by dramatic valleys and
caves. Pine forests of deep green are widespread.
From coast to coast it's only 40 kilometres and
to cross the mountains is an exceptional experience.
Idyllic beaches and historical sites abound. Calabria's
coastline is dotted with a host of tranquil bays
and headlands and the sea here is a deep cobalt
blue. With it's 750 km long coast it offers long,
sandy and often completely empty beaches. In Calabria
you can enjoy the authentic, unspoilt southern
Italy and in many villages time has stood still
and life is very quiet and tranquil.
The area has seen a steady interest from European
tourists attracted by the natural beauty of the
area and also the noticeably improved amenities
and infrastructure. With an excellent climate
and the opportunity to laze on the beaches in
the summer and to ski in winter, the potential
for rental is very good. Prices here still represent
excellent value for money and getting to the region
is becoming increasingly easy, with two airports
in the region, Lamezia and Reggio di Calabria.
Lake Garda
Italy's most popular and largest lake, Lake Garda
sits in northern Italy, close to the city of Verona.
The contrast of dramatic mountains and sandy coves
make Lake Garda arguably the most beautiful of
the Italian lakes and it has more in common with
southern Italy.
The landscape close to the shore has the feel
of the Mediterranean, with a mild climate supporting
palms and the famous lemon groves alongside the
olives and vines. The crystal clear waters of
Lake Garda are perfect for swimming and many popular
sports such as windsurfing and sailing. The villages
and medieval towns of Lake Garda are filled with
shops, restaurants and hotels, with their cobblestone
streets, thermal baths, fairytale castles and
bustling lakeside markets. Getting there is easy,
with low cost airlines and easy access from a
choice of local airports in the region.
